The "Pré Curieux Water Gardens"

Located within a 3.5-hectare wooded park on Lake Geneva at the western entrance to the town of Evian. This unique garden allows visitors to discover and learn about wetlands.
In 2005, the Water Gardens obtained the "Remarkable Garden" label.

The Pré Curieux was acquired in 1995 by the Conservatoire du Littoral, with help from the towns of Evian and Publier, the Haute-Savoie Departmental Council and the Rhône-Alpes Region. In 1998, an agreement between the French government, the Ramsar Convention*, Danone, the Conservatoire du Littoral and the town of Evian set the site up as a "research and international communication centre for wetlands". Open to the public, the site is also meant to eventually serve as the regional offices of the Ramsar Convention and to welcome researchers from around the world. Located on the lakeshore, at the western entrance to Evian, the Pré Curieux includes a charming, colonial-style house bordered by a 3.5-hectare wooded park.

Begin your tour by visiting the house, whose exhibitions (created by the various partners) explain the function, richness and fragility of the wetlands. The house is equipped with an educational room destined to welcome schools and groups of children. Next, visit the park, which is organized around various water-based ecosystems (landscaped and natural water gardens, with a creek, a pond, a marsh, humid prairies and a delta, each sheltering an animal and plant life as unique as it is varied).

Hours and prices

The park is accessed via a solar boat.
Open from May to September, from Wednesday to Sunday in May, June and September and daily in July and August.
10 a.m. / 1:45 p.m. / 3:30 p.m. departures from the landing located opposite the Casino.
Prices: adults €10 / children €6 / groups €8 / families €26

* The Ramsar Convention is a treaty for the protection of wetlands of international importance. This convention, to which 138 countries adhere (including France, since 1986), today protects 1,368 separate sites covering 120 million hectares around the world.

The "Evian Natural Mineral Water" bottling plant

Group visits: from Monday to Friday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (reservations required). Free.
Individual visits: from June to September. Price: €2 / free for children under 12.

Lakeshore tour

Along the entire length of the quay-promenade, from the aquatic centre to the marina, fifteen information posts present the characteristics and the plant and animal life of Lake Geneva. Two viewpoint indicators are located on the dike of the aquatic-centre port and next to the commercial port's landing stage.

The "Musical Fountain"

Located on the Henri-Buet Esplanade in the Les Mouettes port, this fountain offers onlookers a spectacle of water jets set to various musical scores (duration: around a half hour).
From June to October.
